I
recently took a card class from my Stampin’ Up Demonstrator, Lora, all about
masculine themed cards and it gave me some ideas. Why is it always way too easy to create the
girly, feminine cards but when it comes to the guys I am less inspired. This class really helped me start thinking
more of the tougher side of things and these are what I came up with. They are both Happy Birthday cards but could
easily be made into Father’s Day, Thank You or just a note card to send to the
guys in your life.
The
Star Birthday card is just three different sizes of stars punched out in
different patterned card stock. I choose
plaids and stripes from the G.C.D Studios Planes & Trains paper stack; it
reminded me of colors in my husband’s shirts.
The Happy Birthday is popped in the middle to create waving banner effect.
For
the Gray Tie card I punched out circles in 2 sizes and 3 different patterns, I
did the same with the ties. The paper is
from DCWV, the Dots, Stripes & Plaids paper stack, for the ties I used dies
from W Plus 9 Design Studio Tie Die. The
newsprint paper is actually from an actual book since I don’t own a newsprint
stamp nor had any card stock on hand.
Yes, I know it is a sacrilege to deface any book but I picked the oldest
paperback on my shelf and one I knew I would never read again. I however, have not told my husband I stole
the paperback as he would probably tell me he was going to re-read that. It was Presumed Innocent by Scott Thurow, I
think. The final touch on this card was
the Washi tape. I love Washi tape it is
my new favorite product and I thought it added the finishing touch. Here is how it looks if you swap out the
Happy Birthday for Father’s Day. I think
it might be perfect for my FIL for Father’s Day.
